One training calendar for athletes, coaches and gyms

Coaches write the plan, athletes train it in their own numbers, and gyms book the classes, all on one account.

Free for athletes. Coaches and gyms get 14 days free.

Built by a coach and the athlete he coaches

Pawel Dregan coaches ultra runners. Chris Breuer is a software engineer who trains under his plans. They built HQ so the plan, the session and the feedback on it live in one workspace.

About HQ.training

“I type a session the way I would write it in an email or a spreadsheet. HQ turns that into structured steps, an interval chart, a TSS estimate and a file for the watch.”

“Each app knew its own piece, and putting the pieces together was my job.”

For athletes

Your training, in your own numbers

Whether a coach writes your plan or you write it yourself, HQ turns it into a day you can follow and a history you can read. It’s free, and it stays free.

Today

Today, step by step

The day’s sessions in the order your coach set, each interval chart drawn to scale in zone colors, and strength work as lettered blocks with every set to tick off. A week strip tracks sessions, hours, distance, TSS and form, with countdowns to your events.

Targets

Targets in watts, beats and pace

“95–105% FTP” becomes 247–273 W for you. Every target comes from your own thresholds, and finished sessions show time in each zone. Change your FTP and past sessions re-zone.

Calendar

A calendar that grades the plan

Each session is colored by how close you came: green within 80–120% of plan, amber within 50–150%, orange further off, red when missed. Recordings from your watch or Apple Health pair with the session they belong to, and you can unpair one in a tap.

Devices

To your watch and back

Download a structured session as .fit for your watch or bike computer, or .zwo for Zwift. Log a result with duration, distance, heart rate, RPE and how it felt, and HQ estimates TSS if you leave it blank.

Share pages

Publish a recorded route and it gets a page with the map, elevation profile and stats, plus story and social images. The 200 m around your start and finish stay hidden.

A progress link

Show a physio or a friend your last two weeks and the block ahead. Choose workouts, health metrics and goals one by one, and rotate or revoke the link whenever you like.

A year at a glance

An activity grid weighted by training load, with active days, hours and streaks. Put it, or your weight trend, on your own site as an image or a web component.

A morning email

Today’s session in your inbox at the hour you pick, in your time zone. Rest days stay quiet.

Write it the way you already do, then send it to the squad

Type a session in the shorthand you use in emails and spreadsheets. HQ turns it into structured steps, a chart, a TSS estimate and a file for the watch, and you send it to as many athletes, on as many dates, as you need.

Send to many, for weeks

Pick athletes and dates and repeat weekly for up to twelve weeks. Each athlete gets their own copy to adjust. Or drag in blocks: warm up, steady, tempo, intervals, strides, recovery, cool down.

184 exercises, each with a video

Strength, core, mobility, plyometrics, cardio and running drills, searchable by name, muscle or equipment, and it knows KB, DB, SL and RDL. Add your own from YouTube, Vimeo, Loom or an upload, and your athletes see your version.

Plans you can reuse

Build plans of 1 to 24 weeks in a drag-and-drop editor and assign one to several athletes from a start date. Save any stretch of an athlete’s calendar as a plan. Unassigning removes only upcoming sessions you haven’t edited.

An AI plan builder that reads the athlete

Give it the goal, the event and its date, 2–25 hours a week, days per week, sports and experience. It reads the athlete’s thresholds, recent load, events and goals, then drafts phases, weeks and structured sessions. Revise it with a note and add it to the calendar. Coach includes it with a small usage limit; Coach + AI, $39 a month, includes more monthly AI usage, and you can also use your own OpenAI or Anthropic key.

The roster on one board

Every athlete’s session today and whether it’s done, their week so far, and fitness, fatigue and form, filtered by group. Each athlete’s calendar opens beside their zones, races, plans and your private notes.

Bring your history across

Import TrainingPeaks workout and metrics exports for yourself or an athlete, comments included. Importing the same files again updates what’s there.

Know when to push and when to back off

Every session, planned or done, feeds one performance management chart, for one athlete or the whole roster.

  • Fitness, fatigue and form, daily. 42-day and 7-day training load and the balance between them, with daily TSS, from 30 days to a year.

  • The plan, projected. Four weeks ahead from the sessions already planned, with a line on where fitness and form land.

  • Volume and mix. Training time, distance, sessions and plan completion, eight weeks of weekly volume, and the split by sport.

  • Time in zone. From the heart rate, power and pace samples on every recorded session.

  • Power and pace curves. Best efforts from 5 seconds to hours and from 400 m to the marathon, with eFTP, critical power and critical speed.

Relax

Breathwork for the days between sessions

The Relax studio sits in the same account as your training: breathwork classes, a plan built around what you want from them, and guided sessions to wind down. Every account has it, the free one included.

Sixteen breathwork classes

For the body, the mind and sleep, beginner to advanced: a warm-up before you train, resonance breathing for HRV, a slow descent into sleep. Holds and pace adjust to you, over a sound bed of your choice.

A 13-week plan

Pick a goal, energy, focus, calm, sleep, recovery or CO2 tolerance, and HQ lays out 90 days of classes, with reminders at the times you choose.

Your breath-hold score

The BOLT test measures how long you comfortably pause after a normal breath out, once a week, so you see your CO2 tolerance change.

What your body did

Heart rate live through each class on the iPhone app, from a heart-rate strap or an Apple Watch via Apple Health, drawn over every breath, then how far it settled and a short note on how it went. Classes play offline, too.

Seventeen guided sessions sit beside the classes: a body scan, a quiet sit, box breathing, a cool-down after training and seven for sleep, with soundscapes that fade out on a sleep timer. Every class and session counts toward your mindful minutes, which the iPhone app saves to Apple Health.

For gyms and studios

The floor, the desk and the books

A gym gets the coaching tools for every trainer on staff, plus the operations it runs on. Change a membership and billing, booking access and the member record change with it.

Member booking a class from a phone at the gym entrance

Timetable and booking

  • Recurring classes set once: days, time, room, trainer, capacity
  • Online booking, with a waitlist when a class is full
  • A cancellation moves the first person waiting into the spot
  • PT appointments against session packs, with trainer and room clashes caught

Memberships and billing

  • Unlimited or credit-based plans: a booking spends a credit, a cancellation returns it
  • Freeze, cancel, reactivate or change plan, with a proration preview for members
  • Digital waivers, signed before a membership starts

Front desk and point of sale

  • Check members in by name or QR card and see granted, warning or denied
  • Who has arrived, against how many bookings are expected
  • Retail with stock counts, day passes and PT packs, with account credit applied
  • An invoice for every sale, and a receipt emailed to members
  • Stripe Terminal card readers and, for Germany, a fiskaly TSE that signs each sale, with the signature on the receipt and a DSFinV-K export; you need your own fiskaly account and readers, and it has not yet been tried live
  • Kisi doors that follow each membership, with every unlock counted as a visit
  • Urban Sports Club, Wellpass, ClassPass, Wellhub and Hansefit visits at the desk, with class places held for them and a monthly payout report

Staff roles and permissions

  • Owner, admin, manager, front desk and trainer roles
  • 29 permissions, checked on the server for every request
  • The business report stays with owners and managers

Messages that go out on their own when something changes

HQ sends more than fifty messages on its own, each when something happens: a booking, a freed-up spot, a new plan, a comment, a failed payment. Most go out in English or German, whichever the reader uses. When something needs a person, coaches message their athletes and members message the gym’s staff, right in the app.

Sell your plans and keep what you earn

Turn any plan in your library into a product, or sell your coaching as a subscription. Buyers pay through Stripe, the money goes to your own Stripe account, and HQ takes no cut.

  • Sell plans, courses, videos and video series, with free preview episodes.

  • Release everything at once, a few days at a time, or as a cohort on fixed dates. A start date in the future makes it a pre-sale.

  • Bought plans land on the buyer’s calendar, and new weeks unlock on schedule.

  • Give discount codes, by percent or amount, with use limits and end dates. A refund removes access and the sessions still to come.

  • Sell coaching monthly or yearly, with a free trial if you like. Subscribers join your roster, cancel from their purchases, and a payment that never goes through ends their access.

A public profile, like GitHub’s, for training

An athlete’s year of training fills in square by square, like a year of commits. A coach’s profile shows who they coach. A gym’s or studio’s page shows its classes, its coaches and how much training happens there. Your own profile stays private until you turn it on.

Phone app

A coach in your ear for the whole session

The phone app is built for the session itself. The iPhone app is in testing and on its way to the App Store, and Android follows on Google Play.

A workout player

Intervals run step by step with repeats unrolled, and strength runs set by set and round by round. The exercise video plays in place, and during a rest it shows the next one.

Voice cues and haptics

Spoken cues for each step, a ten-second get-ready, and rest you can shorten, stretch or skip. It reads timings like “45 sec on, 15 off” straight from your coach’s notes.

GPS that keeps going

Record your route with live pace, in the background. Close the app mid-session and it picks up where you left off.

Apple Health, both ways

On iPhone, sleep, HRV, heart rate, steps, weight, workouts, mindful minutes and what your food app logged come in, and a session finished in the player, or a breathwork class, goes back out. The finish screen asks for effort and a note for your coach.

Two phones running HQ: today’s sessions with fitness, fatigue and form, and a core circuit ready to start with exercise videos and voice cues

Your data, on your terms

Health data is personal, so these are the defaults.

  • A coach sees your sessions and recovery once you accept them as your coach. Your weight stays yours, and your food log too unless you share it.

  • Published routes hide the 200 m around where they start and finish.

  • Share links are opt-in for each kind of data, and you can rotate or revoke them. They never include your weight.

  • Export your workouts, weekly summaries and health metrics as CSV, for any date range.

Free for athletes, one flat price for everyone else

Coaches and gyms pay the same each month however many athletes or members they have. Paying yearly gets you two months free.

How do I move over from TrainingPeaks?
Connect your TrainingPeaks account once. Your whole archive comes across, and planned sessions keep their structure: repeats, targets, strength blocks, exercise videos and comments. Your thresholds come too. Until everyone has switched, HQ checks every hour for anything new, so nothing falls through in between. A coach can also import workout and metrics exports for each athlete.
How do workouts get onto my watch or trainer?
Download a structured session as a .fit file for your watch or bike computer, or as .zwo for Zwift, with targets in your own watts, heart rate or pace. A private calendar feed also puts the week’s sessions, with their steps, into Apple Calendar or Google Calendar.
What can my coach see?
Once you accept them as your coach, they see your sessions, your calendar, your fitness, fatigue and form, and your recovery data such as sleep and HRV. They see the habits they set you too. Your weight isn’t shown to them, your food log only if you share it, and nothing goes on a share link or your public profile unless you turn it on.
Do my athletes or members need to pay?
No. A coach pays one flat price for every athlete they coach, and a gym one flat price for its whole staff. Athletes and members keep a free account, whoever they train with.
What happens to my data if I leave?
Export your workouts, weekly summaries and health metrics as CSV for any date range, and your food log and habits, whenever you like. A gym downloads its members, memberships, payments, attendance, timetable, waiver signatures and staff in one ZIP of CSV files. If you cancel a paid plan, your account goes back to the free Athlete plan and your athletes keep theirs.
Does HQ take a cut of what I sell?
Not in the coach store. Buyers pay through Stripe, the money goes to your own Stripe account, and HQ adds no fee. Stripe’s own card processing fee still applies.

Start with the account you need
